Scripture Memory Monday | Psalm 51:15

It has been so long since I posted a scripture memory verse.

This week I am going to be concentrating on controlling what comes out of my mouth. More praise, less condemnation. More kindness, less hostility. More of Him, less of me.

Being Real | 1 Thessalonians 5:15-18

I really, really need to memorize this. Bad. God reminded me of this verse today when I most needed it.  I was feeling really angry about something and wanted to "get revenge" and speak my mind, just let it be known that I was angry. Gently, He reminded me, "No, Bethany. That is not what I am about. You are mine and actually, this is what My will is for you."

Life is complicated sometimes and we don't know what to do in certain situations. But my goodness, this really lays it out plainly for me. When you don't know what to do, just rejoice. Just give thanks. No matter what you are going through. Do good to everyone. And pray. This is His will. There's no questioning that.

Scripture Memory Monday | James 1:2-3

I am convicted by this verse.  Whenever I face a difficult situation, I am not at all joyful.  In fact, I'm the exact opposite.  I whine, complain, worry.  There's nothing fun about it.  But scripture tells us to consider trials PURE JOY!  Why?  Because it tests our faith so that we will maintain a purpose in spite of difficulty.

James 1 is chock full of good stuff.  Go read it.

Scripture Memory Monday | Psalm 16:1-2

These verses keep me humble.  God is so big and I am reminded to find safety in Him and to seek Him in all that I do.  If God isn't part of whatever I am doing, then it is not good and I am not in His perfect will. It also reminds me that no matter what I accomplish personally, I can take no credit.  All the glory and honor goes to the Lord. I am His and all good that I do is actually Him working through me. Thank You, Father, for this reminder to make myself small so that You may be made great.

Scripture Memory Monday | Romans 12:12

Sorry I was MIA last week. With summer starting we had a lot of things going on. But, I'm back! And I have a lot of projects on the table for the next few weeks. Looks to be a busy summer ahead. I hope everyone is doing well and memorizing your verses every week. How's everyone's memorization going?

Scripture Memory Monday | Hebrews 10:22

I really love this verse.

Such a great reminder that I don't need to have all the answers. I just need to have more faith.

My prayer is that my heart is pure, and that I am seeking Him in all that I do.

Scripture Memory Monday | Luke 6:45

Questions I need to ask myself:
What do the words that I speak say about the condition of my heart?
What tone of voice am I using when I speak?
Am I speaking the truth in love?
Am I using words that are honoring and loving and gentle?
Or are the words I use hateful, angry and unkind?

I'm really concentrating on every word that comes out of my mouth. Before I respond to a question or a problem I'm challenging myself to think about what I say and how it may be interpreted. If you're up for a challenge, please join me. :)

Scripture Memory Monday | Psalm 61:2

Memorizing scripture is one thing that I have always been horrible at. I don't have the best memory. If I meet someone, I will forget their name 10 minutes later. Having a bad memory isn't a quality that I love about myself. So, I'd like to challenge myself to memorize scripture more, so that I can hide it in my heart and know God's word. I love the Psalms, so I will start there. Each week I am going to post a new scripture that I want to memorize. I'd love for you to join me!
