365 Project

I am making a promise to myself. Every day for one year, I am going to take a photograph. I have a few friends that are doing this, and it seems to be a growing and learning experience. My version has a little twist to it. The 365 Project is going to be more of a challenge than just taking a picture. Because I believe in God's incredible goodness, I want to display that every day of my life for the next year. Each photograph I post will in some way demonstrate His great love. I think I am going to be surprised at where and how God shows me His love.

My first photograph is one I took of a card that Brooks & I received last year. We were going through a really, really hard time in our lives. He had lost his job, we had a sick baby, we had like, no money. I mean none. We relied on Him solely and completely for every need. It was not easy at all. But I believe that God showed us His faithfulness every day. One random day I went to check the mail and realized there was a card in our mailbox. No return address on the envelope, I was quite curious who it was from. With Brooks sitting next to me, I tore the sealed end apart, pulled out the card and read the front. When I opened the card, four crisp one-hundred dollar bills fell into my lap! My mouth fell open and I quickly searched the inside of the card for a name or some clue as to who had sent this gift to us, but all I could find was that it was signed "your family in Christ." To this day, I have no clue who sent the card to us. This card and gift came to us at such a desperate time in our lives. It truly demonstrates God's love to me.

We got the card several months ago, so now why would I put this picture up today? This morning, I was thinking about this 365 project and Psalm 36:5 (my verse for this project. See? 3-6-5?!) while I was in the kitchen cleaning up. I was contemplating what to take a picture of first, and how I could show God's goodness through that picture. As I put the dishes away, I dropped a cookie sheet and when I bent down to pick it up, I saw this card sticking out from underneath the refrigerator. I had been wondering where it was for a while! When I opened the card and reread the note, I knew exactly what God wanted me to do.

Psalm 36:5 says, "Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies."
