Psalm 107:8-9

"Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things." Psalm 107:8-9

This morning I took my girls out to the botanical gardens. It is a beautiful place with all sorts of seasonal flowers and plants, and many places to just sit and enjoy your surroundings. It is a very soothing environment to be in. We love going there and just running--er, I mean walking around. I figured it would be a good place to start taking some photos, too. In the middle of the gardens, there is a pond with lots of fish and turtles swimming around. And while you are not supposed to be feeding the geese that tend to linger near the pond, we always bring a sack full of stale breads and cereals and other junk from the cupboard to feed the fish. Anna Brooke absolutely loves this!

And I would have to say that the fish absolutely love Anna Brooke. If she had her way, she would dump all of our goodies into the water at once and just watch the animals devour them. Because of this, I have to ration out what she can throw in at one time. So I carefully tear apart the bread and put it on the ledge of the little dock area where we stand above the water. She knows exactly what she can give to the fishies.

While doing this, I was thinking how incredibly hungry the fish and turtles seem to be; wanting to gobble up whatever morsels we throw at them. They eat it up like they haven't eaten in days. If only we were like this with God. If only I were like this with God. If only we could eat up every little scripture and promise He's given us. How different would we be? Only He can satisfy, and He will give us all we need to never thirst or hunger again.

P.S. I am was not planning on accompanying each photo with a Sunday school lesson, okay? So, some days I might and some I might just have a picture up... I'm just going as God leads. :)

i think it's amazing that you're finding something faith based in the small things in life. i mean, really, a walk and feeding fishies helped you provide us a fabulous analogy and related lifes everyday journey to our journey with God. THAT IS AWESOME! and not to mention a really fabulous picture! :)

I think you should write a "Sunday School lesson" with each picture! You could then turn it into a devotional book at the end of the year!!!

Thank you for being such a great Mom!
I'm so proud of you, Bethany!
